The Government has announced the result of the Public Consultation on strengthening the Regulation of Person-to-Person Telemarketing Calls citing 86% of the public support the setting up of a Do-not-call Register. The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) thus proposed to establish a statutory Do-not-call Register that covers both “warm calls” and “cold calls” and appoint the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) to administer the Register.
